Our Solutions

Fuel cells use chemistry to convert a fuel source into electricity and heat in a highly efficient process that virtually avoids pollutants as the fuel is not burned. The combination of near-zero pollutants, modest land-use needs, and quiet operating nature of these stationary fuel cell power plants facilitates installation in urban locations where the electricity is consumed. Customers benefit with operating cost reductions delivered in a manner that supports sustainability goals and enhances power reliability.

Our plants produce power via an electrochemical reaction within the fuel cells, generating large outputs of electricity in two ways:

On-site power, or “behind-the-meter”, applications where power is generated at the point of use; providing customers with improved power reliability and energy security by reducing reliance on the electric grid

Grid support applications, where power is supplied to the electric grid or utility substations; providing utilities with an economical, practical and scalable solution that enhances grid resiliency and reduces reliance on large central generation plants

Heat & Cooling

Our fuel cell plants generate both electricity and usable high quality heat/steam from the same unit of fuel; a configuration referred to as combined heat and power, or CHP. The heat can be used for facility heating and cooling utilizing conventional absorption chilling technology. When configured for CHP, system efficiencies can reach up to 90 percent, depending on the application.

Our power plants are capable of producing multiple value streams including the on-site production of high purity hydrogen along with ultra-clean electricity and usable heat. This configuration, referred to as tri-generation, produces additional hydrogen beyond what is needed for power production; generating a stream of hydrogen suitable for industrial or transportation applications.

Carbon Capture Utilization + Storage

Configured for carbon capture, our fuel cell power plants efficiently and affordably capture carbon emissions from existing coal or gas-fired power plants, while simultaneously producing power and destroying approximately 70% of the plant’s smog-producing pollutants. This solution provides a revenue stream and return on capital from the sale of power produced by the fuel cells.

Our SureSource Recovery plant is located at natural gas letdown stations to generate ultra-clean power and heat and utilize unused energy from the pressure-reduction process to generate additional zero- emissions power, all in in a highly efficient manner. The SureSource Recovery solution is comprised of a SureSource fuel cell plant and a turbo-expander. The turbo–expander electricity production is based on the amount of gas flow through the pressure-reduction station.

Utility scale energy storage

Our storage solution is a developing, market-driven energy storage system that utilizes solid oxide electrolysis cells (SOEC) to affordably and efficiently convert excess power into hydrogen, an energy carrier, for long duration storage applications. The hydrogen produced from SOEC can be stored and used for grid-power, hydrogen fueling stations or for industrial purposes as an alternative to natural gas reforming.
